Planning for resilience – Nicole O’Keefe, Chair of TradeUP Australia
Planning for resilience
Nicole O’Keefe is a third year Apprentice Electrician with BHP Billiton Iron Ore. Coming from a Recruitment and HR background, Nicole didn’t always know that she was going to change her career and start an apprenticeship although it was a niggling idea for nearly seven years. Nicole is a person who has always trusted her intuition and let that guide her through her life. Nicole believes that you can do anything you want as long as you take the time to plan out the journey and back yourself. She makes a point to regularly check in with herself to ensure she’s doing things that align with her values. In August 2015 Nicole was voted in as Board Chair for a not for Profit organisation called TradeUP Australia that encourages females to consider non-traditional trades as viable career options.
